About Me:

I began studying violin with The Suzuki Method in 1968 at the age of 3.  My mother began teaching her children using this method in 1965  early in the American establishment of the Suzuki Method.  She completed years of study with Dr. Suzuki in ,  Matsumoto, Japan.  My family was captivated by music as long as I can  remember.  My family consisting of six brothers was even recognized as the most musical family in the United States in 1972.

Music has not been my profession but it has been my passion, which drives me to share my experience and knowledge with new generations of music lovers.

Music Experience:

1970-1979    Participated in Summer ASTA programs throughout the 1970’s
String Quartet and Symphony violin play 1973 - 1987
1984    Participated and learned from Dr. Suzuki at World Suzuki Festival in Berlin, Germany
1983 – 1987    Played violin in the UW Madison String Orchestra
Long Standing Member of ASTA( American String Teachers Association)
1990- 2002    Teacher of children between ages of 5 – 12 in a variety of capacities from music, tennis, and golf in Madison,Wisconsin and Portland, Maine

ImageI Believe:
Children are most malleable in the earliest stages of their life.  Brain cells multiply almost exponentially during these formidable years.  Complicated tasks such as developing ear and tone become almost second nature if introduced at a young age.  With repetition and focused interest on music any child can learn to be adept with a musical instrument.

Sincerely,
Benjamin Edgecomb
